    There are many misconceptions in America about tantric philosophy and this book sets the record straight. This book lays out the wonderful world view that is tantra, a view I wish to understand more and live by. Wallis’ writing is incredibly clear, articulate, thorough and accessible to any reader, whether the academic, wishing to learn the truth about tantra, or the spiritual seeker who wants to understand and actually be able to live by and apply these teachings. I am a full time yoga teacher and have read and perused several books on tantra and yoga philosophy in general. I have many hours of study at workshops and retreats with several yoga philosophy scholars. In my experience, this is The Best Book on tantra and an invaluable addition to my yoga collection; it is my main source for yoga philosophy for my teaching and my own practice. If you are at all interested in this subject, for whatever reason (academic / intellectual, personal / practical) this is The Book to have on Tantra.

    Christopher Wallis has written one of the most profound and accessible books about a spiritual path I have ever read. I am reading it through for a second time and still am finding treasures in nearly every page. Some things I just had to say "wow" when reading. It is difficult to bring this kind of clarity to such a complex and arcane subject as a thousand year old system. He has done a brilliant job indexing it so that you can go on a bit of a treasure hunt (referring you to pages where a topic is further discussed so you don't have to guess where you read it before or wait if you want to go deeper) and a good job of showing us the original Sanskrit sources. Plus he partnered with a wonderful artist to make this book a beautiful one to look through.
